Technique applied description
Natsume in Japanese means tea container, used for storing tea powder in the tea ceremony. With décor of hagibush, leafs and plants in high-relief takamakie, sprinkled powder of alloy and gold on a polished golden ground which graduated from solid gold to faint gold sprinkles; the inside and the bottom densely covered with hirame gold flakes.
Pure white color doesn’t exist in the world of Urushi. We can find other material approaching to white color to instead of making white color by Urushi. For instance, I used the crumbled eggshell flakes to complete the part of chrysanthemum. Not only takes time to pasting such tiny flakes by hand, but also considering about the balance of display, it needs to choose the proper shape of eggshell to pasting within the space.
